Upcoming are sample entries from the database. The database contains thousands of personal entries from several times and places: Vienna around 1800, Vienna around 1900, Pittsburgh and Chicago in the early 1900s.
The criteria for entering a person in the database were presence in one of the above places in the given time period and one of the following: member of a Slavic Orthodox church or born in a predominantly South Slavic speaking province of Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Serbia or Montenegro or recorded as a speaker of a Southwest Slavic language or directly related to one such (e.g. as midwife, priest, godfather, godmother etc.).
The sample entries will be from a cluster mainly consisting of the Baich family in Vienna around 1900. The information derives from church registers, testaments, passport application protocols and Heimatschein application protocols.
